About Ryoga

Hi there! My name is Ryoga and I've been practicing Tutting for over 12 years now. I am member of the performance group called Xtrap, which made it to the semi-finals of Asia's Got Talent. Before discovering Tutting as a genre, I was a self-taught animation dancer who had heard about Tutting and Digitz. But when I stumbled upon Nari's performance on Youtube, I was so impressed that I began to study Tutting and Digitz skills in earnest. Nari became my mentor and teammate, and while learning the basic skills from him, I also went to Baltimore many times to learn various techniques from the originators of Digitz. I was amazed by the shapes created with fingers and hands, which made me realize that the human imagination is limitless. I developed my own unique style of Tutting by fusing the Tutting I grew up with from the street Popping culture, with the Digitz/Liquid I grew up with from the RAVE culture. Being in the vortex of the spread of Tutting and Finger Tutting, I've developed numerous innovative moves and made a significant impact on the community. My contributions have been recognized through winning competitions and serving as a judge for many years. Additionally, I've taught Tutting classes at studios and online for an extended period, and my students have gone on to create their own unique moves. As a professional dancer and performer, I find Tutting's regularity of movement to be visually pleasing and capable of creating delightful surprises. While I have been exploring ways to make Tutting and Fingertutting more accessible to the general public, I have rediscovered the original appeal of Tutting and grown to love it even more. I find it captivating how different body forms can express their imagination and emotions through their unique movements. As a highly respected teacher in the scene, teaching students all of the world, I am proud to be recognized as one of the best in my respected style. With my vast experience, I have had the privilege of witnessing various types of Tutting throughout history, and I am excited to share my observations and insights. Through teaching I want to create a world where Tutting is loved by more people and I want to open more doors expanding the possibilities of tutting. When you enter the world of Tutting, the world of Tutting becomes a little wider, that means my world will become wider. Through my creative exploration, I have been able to turn my passion into a career. I've had the privilege of working on a variety of exciting projects, including music videos, commercials, live performances, and advertisements. If you are interested in learning more about my work or would like to inquire about any type of promotional or commercial work, please feel free to contact me below for my resume and additional information.

Dance Training and Styles

Finger Tutting

I am a skilled finger tutter with a well-balanced mastery of all the basics, skills, and ideas and have been practicing and innovating the style for the past 12 years. In 2011, I was inspired by Nari, an innovator of digitz and finger tutting, and started learning from him. Then in 2012 I started taking frequent trips to Baltimore to learn from the originators of the style. With years of experience and numerous battles under my belt, I achieved a significant milestone in 2018 by winning Dexterity Dance League finger styles category in NY. As a preformer in XTRAP I am one of the pioneers of Finger Kaleidoscope, and am proud to have influenced the style's growth worldwide. I've made significant contributions to the scene by creating new foundations and revolutionary moves, which have earned me a reputation as one of the best the field, leading to opportunities such as judging competitions. I've also had the pleasure of working on a wide variety of projects, including stage performances, commercials, music videos, and advertisements, where I've been able to showcase my finger tutting expertise.

Tutting

I have 12 years of experience in tutting and started learning tutting from Nari in 2011. I'm known for not only being one of the best in the world at this style but also for my cleanliness, precision, and my advanced understanding of the grid. In the scene of tutting I have created many impressive moves, concepts and foundations people still refer to today. I have also been one of the main choreographers in XTRAP choreographing multi-person tutting that have had a lot of influence in the scene. My passion for this style has not only led me to judge in-person and online competitions, but also to turn it into a career. I have had the opportunity to work on a wide variety of projects, including stage performances, commercials, music videos, and advertisements, where I have been able to showcase my tutting expertise.

Object dance

I started the various styles of object dance in 2019 and am self taught learning from a variety of different sources. As a contact juggler, I specialize in performing basic techniques such as Eight ring, Buugeng, Magnetic baton, and Visual poi. I don't just showcase these techniques, but also incorporate dance elements inside them creating unique choreography for stage performances. Another concept I explore is object manipulation, where I move and isolate various items like pens, bottles, umbrellas, chopsticks, and strings to create intriguing and unusual performances. I've innovated a lot in the object dance scene through original choreographies. I have had the pleasure of being apart projects like stage performance, commercials, and music videos showcasing my skills.
